Ironsides Rugby Supporting Movember

Last weekend, the Ironsides Rugby community rallied once again in support of Movember, the global movement raising funds and awareness for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

Led by the legendary team of Charlie and Charlie, Stuart, and Craig, this year’s event exceeded expectations, pulling together a fantastic amount of supporters and donations in celebration of such a worthy cause.

Movember, recognised worldwide, challenges participants to grow moustaches each November, to raise awareness and raise funds for men’s health. The "mo" in Movember, an affectionate nod to the Australian-English slang for “moustache,” represents a global call to action to highlight men’s heath issues. At Ironsides, the Movember mission has actively been in action since 2019, and this year was no exception.

Through countless hours of behind the scenes work by volunteers from all sections of the club, (mini’s, youth, men, women and old boys), Ironsides have managed to raise, to date this season, over £11,000.00.

The team’s efforts have bolstered Ironsides’ impressive long-term commitment to the cause. Since adopting Movember, Ironsides Rugby Club has raised a staggering £86,000 and consistently ranked among the top three donors annually.

Now with just £14,000 remaining to reach the £100,000 milestone, the Ironsides team is focused and determined to make this year the one where the club breaks records and cements its legacy in the Movember movement.

This year’s event featured an incredible raffle with the dynamic duo, the two Charlie’s, securing over 50 prizes, including but not limited to, bottles of luxury spirits and champagne, a luxury getaway to a London penthouse, Botox and laser treatments, cases of craft beer, and signed memorabilia from Harlequins, Saracens, Bath, England’s national team, and World Cup winners Jason Leonard and Jason Robinson. These prizes and more were generously contributed by sponsors and local supporters, adding to the excitement and success of the event.

Join Ironsides Rugby Club and together, let’s support men’s health and get across that £100,000.00 mark!
