U12’s What a Season!

Woah… smashing into Youth Rugby for 2024/25 and our boys did not disappoint! Ironsides U12’s brought their everything! 👊

Moving up from Minis into Youth brings so many changes - no more festivals, proper 20 minutes each way games, hosting their oppo for post-match teas, and wearing their Ironsides Number Ones (not to mention the KitKat ‘Player of the Match’ Challenges!)

With circa 100 players in Irons U12s, the coaching team worked hard to get every Ironsider as much rugby as possible. There were over 20 friendlies arranged with our various local clubs, and players improved and challenged throughout the age group, resulting in Ironsides teams being entered into every level - White, Blue, Green. In addition, our Irons Rapids played fixtures on every Cup weekend, occasionally facing Greens and Blues too!

Cup round results for our boys were pretty impress with Whites 5/ 5 wins; Blues 4 wins, 1 draw; Greens 3/ 3 wins.

Then… came Finals Day!

Topping each of their groups, it was due to be a helluva day out for Ironsides U12s at Camberley RFC!

Huge huge congrats to every U12 player, and huge thanks to @camberley_rugby @surreycountyrugby for a superb day of rugby.

To summarise the results on the day:

U12 Irons I’s locked down the *Top Honours* Gold Trophy 🏆🏆 (White Oak), winning a hard fought game against @rosslynparkfc. An impressive, unbeaten Waterfall Cup Run.👏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

U12 Irons II’s drew their Blue Birch Gold Trophy Final against @chobham_rfc , with a comeback showcase extraordinaire! This time, the 'first try' rule stole the result.

U12 Irons III’s had a magnificent game against @barnesrugbyclub in the Green Oak Gold Final, and brought another Champions Trophy home for Ironsides!🏆🏆 #unbeaten.

U12 Irons Rapids gallantly stepped up to ensure #RugbyforAll on Surrey Finals Day, and had a superb day out, securing their win against @chipstead.rfc.

Wow… what a season for our U12s! Welcome to Ironsides Youth Section and quite an entrance!

Then, after a fabulous Awards Night, there was the last ever Butlins Tour to Bognor for these U12s. @officialbutlins delivered again in Bognor for the @tigerschallenge.

Literally a team and a half, Irons U12s welcomed @hueltringrugby U12s to form a BaBas team, alongside their own full teams. All three teams played their socks off, it was like a OneClubfortheWeekend!

Both Battersea Ironsides U12s and Huel Tring U12s were magnificent, won most, lost a couple and, supported all their rugby friends, new and old, team and club, together.

For the BaBas ‘IRON RANGERS’, true Rugby values shone through - new players to their left, new players to their right, and with one collective goal - the BIG trophy.

The IRON RANGERS, having met just 36 hours before, were undefeated all weekend, across seven games and……won The Trophy!

BaBas!

Martin Johnson welcomed them to the stage, with a Tring player helping an Ironsider hop up the stairs, and an Ironsider passing the trophy over to a Tring player to raise it.

Ironsides BaBas!

A true display of Rugby TREDS. The Rugby Family.

An INCREDIBLE season. Excellent results. Applause all round.

The real result? Rugby wins.

2,3… Ironsides!
