None of this would be possible without the fantastic group of Volunteers that make our club what it is today.
We welcome support from parents and would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to help in any capacity.

Age Group Managers (U6/U15) & Deputy Manager (U7)
Age Group Managers/Deputies play a vital role in the organisation, administration and cohesion of the teams within their age group. They work closely with the Head Coach in fulfilling the responsibilities required by the Club and the RFU. They are an integral link between the Club, the coaching team and the players.

Girls Head Coach

A Head Coach is a highly influential figure in junior players’ lives, particularly within this growing and inspirational group. They are responsible for the development of a players’ rugby skills and attitude to the game and ensure the team/s are well prepared for matches. Plus, they support the individual development of every player. It’s an exciting, rewarding and active role which has a direct influence on performance.

Juniors Social Secretary

One of the defining features of Ironsides Rugby is the social element. It’s fundamental to enjoying the game and building team spirit. The Social Secretary is the glue that brings and binds people together. It requires great personal skill and charm, knowledge of the game and the Club that’s both wide and deep, plus a genuine desire to get everyone involved.

Youth Referee Programme Manager

An enthusiastic volunteer to work with the Battersea Ironsides Referee Coordinator and Youth Chair to put in place a program for teenager’s age 14+ to both gain their RFU Referee qualifications and join the pool of referees helping out across the rugby club.  This is a new role within our club and sits within the objective to provide our young men and women with the opportunity to enjoy Rugby as a player, spectator, referee and coach as they grow older.

Website/Database Support

We are very proud of website which has been built in house by our brilliant Webmaster, Shahid.  It is a huge task to keep the content up to date and fresh.  Volunteers with experience of websites or website content are always needed as well as volunteers to help keep our database updated.  No formal hours so this allows you to give a little (or a lot) back to your wonderful club depending on your availability.
Juniors Equipment Coordinator

The Juniors Equipment Coordinator will monitor equipment levels across the junior section and replenish/retire old kit and equipment as required.  They will also liaise with Managers and Coaches to ensure they have the right amount of kit at the beginning of the season and throughout the season in addition to making recommendations to the Junior Management Committee on equipment policy and enhancements.
Kit Support
Michael and Gill have been selling kit for years in sun, rain or snow!  Volunteers very welcome to help sell from on Sunday mornings.  A great way to get to know other parents and ‘do your bit’. Perfect for younger age group parents who are at the Clubhouse each Sunday.

Battersea Ironsides Sports Club is also looking for a Treasurer.  Contact Richard on for more information

We are always looking for Referee’s and First Aiders in all Age Groups.  Speak to your Age Group Manager about how to get involved.
Check out the website (under News section) for current vacancies or contact Rachel, Junior’s Secretary, on for more information on these and all Volunteer opportunities
