MENS - 1ST XV UPDATE

Ironsides Men's 1st XV have made a strong start to the new season, bagging 4 wins from 5 in the league, and progressing to the next round of the National Cup with a comfortable 40-point margin victory, despite the long away trip to Folkestone for the contest. Whilst the season remains young, Ironsides have found themselves to be of the teams setting the early pace, already opening up a 7 point gap on Andover in 6th. With the 1s next three games against teams with a total of just 1 win under their belt so far, belief is high that this early season form can continue unabated.

With Alex Hadley (Direct of Rugby, Forwards Coach) and Shane Cooney (Backs Coach) continuing from last season, a more expansive style of rugby has been rewarded with 3 try bonus points to date, as the 1s maintain their unbeaten record at Fortress DSP, whilst the highlight of the season to date was a hard fought 1 point away win at Old Tiffs; despite the preseason efforts delivering a more stylish brand of rugby, Ironsides’ trademark doggedness and brutality in defence remains ever present.
