IRONSIDES RUGBY - CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19) LATEST UPDATE:
STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS, SAVE LIVES
We hope you are all staying well and safe in these difficult times.
Please follow the latest Government advice:
Firstly, following the PM’s announcement we want to emphasise the importance of following the Government’s advice to limit the spread of COVID-19. It is vitally important that we all follow the advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and the vulnerable people in our community, and save lives. This will significantly reduce the rate that the virus can spread, reducing the pressure on the NHS and saving lives.
To reiterate, the Government has recommended that we should only leave home if absolutely necessary for the following reasons:
- Shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
- One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
- Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
- Travelling to and from essential work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.
Even when doing these activities, you should be minimising time spent outside of the home and ensuring you are 2 metres apart from anyone outside of your household. You should wash your hands as soon as you get home. Washing your hands frequently will help to reduce the risk of you becoming infected or transferring the virus to others.
We would also urge you to read all the Government’s guidance on the Coronavirus, available at the links below:

We know that, typical of our amazing club, many of you are looking for ways to help in this time of crisis. The best thing that you can do right now is to stay home. It's the only way we're going to stop the spread of the virus. Although yesterday’s announcement of new restrictions may seem tough, we need to consider the front line workers who don't have the luxury of staying safe at home.
In light of this, and if you want to support frontline NHS staff, St George’s Hospital Charity – one of our partner charities - has set up a Coronavirus Appeal. This appeal will support the hospital’s amazing staff working around the clock to treat patients with COVID 19.
Please consider donating to the appeal via our Justgiving page
Additionally, NHS and Wandsworth are asking for volunteers through their official channels. Click on the links below for more details:
We also encourage Ironsiders to download the COVID Symptom Tracker app. The app lets anyone (healthy or with symptoms) share valuable information daily with doctors and scientists at King's College London, Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals who are studying the symptoms of COVID-19 and tracking the spread of the virus. This will help to slow the spread of #COVID19 and identify at risk cases sooner. Download the app at: https://covid.joinzoe.com
Please look after those in your immediate neighbourhood and please remember to check in with the vulnerable members of the Ironsides family.
We also want to take the time to remind you that the Ironsides Clubhouse and grounds, and the Scout Hut / Gym remain closed until further notice in line with government guidance.
