ONWARDS & UPWARDS FOR OUR 1ST XV

A good day down on Garratt Green v Folkstone in the 1st round of the cup

"Stong start to the season, sitting 4th in the league with only one defeat from our opening 9 games. Unbeaten on DSP and, through to the regional semis of the National Vase. A cracking start.” Seb Trower – 1stXV Skipper

As we approach the mid-point or our season, the men’s 1st XV are looking in good shape, sitting 4th in the London 3 SW league, having played 9, won 7, lost 1 and drawn 1.

The run up to Christmas presents a tough test for the lads as we face Portsmouth, US Portsmouth and Old Georgians, lying 2nd, 3rd and 6th respectively. Each game promises to be tight as the top six battle to earn promotion.

Alex Hadley, Ironsides DoR says “We are evolving how we play each week and building an exciting campaign in the league and cup.”

Lest We Forget - Two minutes silence prior to KO v Harrow

We are also off to a decent start in the National Vase with decisive victories over Folkstone in October (40-3) and Harrow on Remembrance weekend (43-15).

These wins place us in the regional Semi-Final against Portsmouth on 23rd February 2019. The regional Final will be played on 16th March.

Shane Cooney, 1stXV lead coach adds “Team spirit is strong and the positive atmosphere is delivering results. The lads are challenging each other to develop and for that starting jersey.”

Let’s see what the next few weeks will bring.
